Curriculum Design
This project involved analyzing and refining the course map for my Reading Fluency course to ensure strong alignment between learning objectives, instructional activities, assessments, and resources. In my role as the instructional designer, I conducted an alignment analysis to identify strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement, then revised components based on instructor, peer, and SME feedback. This process strengthened the coherence of the course and ensured that fluency skills such as accuracy, rate, expression, and comprehension are intentionally scaffolded across modules, resulting in a more focused and learner-centered course design.
For this project, I designed and justified an authentic, technology-enhanced assessment aligned to my Reading Fluency learning objectives. In my role as designer, I created a gamified formative assessment that measures students’ understanding and application of fluency vocabulary rather than simple recall. The assessment complements earlier instruction and supports diverse learners by providing immediate feedback and engagement through a familiar digital tool. This artifact demonstrates how assessment decisions within my course are intentionally aligned, developmentally appropriate, and grounded in authentic learning principles.
