Learning Design Activities
For this project, I designed and justified an authentic, technology-enhanced assessment aligned to my Reading Fluency learning objectives. In my role as designer, I created a gamified formative assessment that measures students’ understanding and application of fluency vocabulary rather than simple recall. The assessment complements earlier instruction and supports diverse learners by providing immediate feedback and engagement through a familiar digital tool. This artifact demonstrates how assessment decisions within my course are intentionally aligned, developmentally appropriate, and grounded in authentic learning principles.
Interactivity, Try me!
This interactive Genially activity supports students in practicing the SWBST summarization strategy as part of my Reading Fluency course. Learners engage with visual prompts and guided steps to identify the Somebody, Wanted, But, So, and Then elements of a text. The interactivity is designed to scaffold comprehension, reinforce academic language, and increase engagement through multimedia and learner-controlled pacing. This resource prepares students for applying SWBST independently in written summaries and authentic assessments.
